About Beka

Beka was established in Canada in 1977 by the late Avedis (Avo) Bederian and his wife Maggie. Avo was the hands-on craftsman who worked behind the scenes to create high-quality outdoor furniture using a trade he learned to master while living in Australia. Maggie was at the forefront of the company. She used her natural people skills to market their products at trade shows and sales events all over the world. Together they built an empire while raising their two young daughters. The two little girls spent their summers curiously exploring the foundry and learning to count with nuts and bolts. It was there that they learned to love the business and what it meant to their parents. Sadly Avo passed away in 2001, but Maggie, with the support of her daughters, kept his legacy alive. They were heartbroken but inspired to continue to work hard by the employees and customers who had become an extension of their family over the years. Beka was and continues to be a family-run business. Not only are Beka's products professionally handcrafted and built to last, every item is meticulously designed to represent premium quality and style to create an outdoor oasis for years to come.

Houri Bederian-Mendoza, Avo and Maggie's youngest daughter, established Coco's Home and Patio (Beka's retail division) in 2004 and continues to run both entities with her husband Vince.
